I had very positive feedback from everyone who attended the course for the content, delivery and Jonathan himself. Everyone commented that the really felt they learnt how important it was to look after their backs.
Fay Freeman, RPC Promens
I observed one of the sessions and it was excellent! I thought the balance was very good and Jonathan's style and pitch was spot on. The feedback I have had from other people that have attended Jonathan's sessions has been equally as good. Consequently, I look forward to using Osteopathic Solutions again in the future.
Anthony Stubbins, HSE Adviser at ThyssenKrupp Aerospace
The feedback from the staff is very good, they found the training very useful and engaging. Mark Dulson was very professional & was able to communicate well with all the staff on the course including some of the more awkward people.
David Bood, Safety Adviser at Kingspan Access Floors, Hull
Thank you for the comprehensive training you provided.
David Payne, EHS Coordinator at Sealed Air, St Neots
The feedback from the Manual Handling Practical Skills Courses was very positive. I was extremely impressed with Alan Reed's training methods and the techniques he showed members of staff.
Paul Stonehouse, Safety & Training Officer at Tor Coatings
I thought everything went well. The trainer Alan Reed has a good commercial sense that sometimes certain manual handling tasks are unavoidable and we just have to find the safest way of doing a particular job. I have seen some trainers who just say 'you shouldn't be doing that' and Alan discussed the task with the employees and worked out what should be done. So very good from a business point of view.
John McGlynn, Health & Safety Manager at Turner Bianca
Every single person that came out passed comment on how interesting Jonathan made the training and that it was very enjoyable. The training Osteopathic Solutions provided was taught from a different perspective and to be honest I think it will have a much bigger impact than any previous training. So thank you for making the training fun but also hard hitting enough to stay in people's minds. We will most definitely be using your company again in the future.
Vicki Kendall, Warehouse & Logistics Manager at 3M Meguiar's UK
Thanks once again for the Manual Handling Risk Assessment report.
It is exactly what I was hoping for.
Garry Meldrum, Health & Safety Officer at Benkert UK Ltd
We used Osteopathic Solutions for our Manual Handling Instructor Assessor training. I attended the training myself & it was first rate.
Bob Hartwell, HSE Manager at Thompson Valves
Was the Manchester venue conducive to learning?
The venue was ideal with onsite parking which was a great benefit
What did you like most about Public 2 Day Course?
Relaxed learning and slides were informative. I found your trainer to be excellent and helpful in all aspects of the course. My assessment marks are testament to your trainer
Tim Henstock, Operations Manager at Ena Shaw
Due to dissatisfaction with the majority of manual handling training currently on offer, a different approach was looked for, which would be more informative, interactive, useful and enjoyable than previous/ historical training courses. Hence Osteopathic Solutions were identified to deliver manual handling training in our industrial conversion businesses of Vitec and Custom Foams.
The training was delivered in a professional, informative and enjoyable way, using both practical and theoretical methods, and feedback from our staff at both sites was that the training given was better than any previous training they had received, and through the interaction side, more enjoyable also. Gareth and the team delivered quality, enjoyable and cost effective training for us, and are in our plans to fulfill future requirements.
Dave Darkins, UK Industrial Operations Manager at Vita Cellular Foams
Here at Ashford we place a very high importance on the well-being of our employees. It is therefore, important to us that when considering manual handling we provide the right balance of information and practical sessions to keep musculo-skeletal risks to people as low as we can.
Osteopathic Solutions provided exactly what we needed in that they were passionate when delivering the courses and flexible enough to cover our shift system, for example attending our night shift. The classroom sessions were lively and interactive and OS also created a competency test for us so that we could check that our employees had understood the course.
The trainer was happy to go into the factory for the practical sessions to utilise the employees 'real' handling requirements and made sure that every person understood the correct techniques for the tasks that they undertake.
I would be happy to use Osteopathic Solutions for future training.
Richard Giles, Safety & Environment Manager at Batchelors
The Bespoke DVD was a great success. The overall opinion was that as the Bespoke DVD covered specific tasks within our own production facility, and featured our people doing the tasks, it was therefore more relevant by association.
I think the DVD will become a very useful training tool for its intended induction purpose and also as a refresher tool.
Stephen Ward, New Products & Process Development Officer
There was excellent feedback from the attendees of the 3 Day Instructor Assessor Course. A big thanks to your trainer Alan Reed.
Caroline Bate, Health & Safety Coordinator at Bakkavor Bread
Many thanks for the cracking job you are doing with our Manual Handling training. It is good to know that we are having expert help with this.
Ruth Willis, Human Resources Manager at Southern Salads
I attended 2 sessions and I could see that attendees were really engaged and Paul Henaghan had a very good approach to those difficult ones, and was brilliant with challenging unsafe practices and was giving comprehensive answers.
Katie Zakaszewska, Safety Coordinator at Dorset Foods, Shaftesbury
From my personal point of view I thought the 3 Day Instructor Assessor Course was excellent and well delivered by Alan. I would recommend it to anyone who was considering doing the same course.
Mike Evans, Head of HSE at Icelandic Seachill

What did you like about our Manual Handling Instructor Robert Smith's delivery?
The Public 2 Day Manual Handling Instructor Course was very practical and straight to the point.
Was the course well structured by our Instructor? Did it flow?
The course structure was good and flowed well with a change from theory to practical.
Was the information presented in a simple & easily understandable way, avoiding medical jargon?
The information was presented in a good manner.
Can we make improvements to the course structure, organisation, presentation & delivery?
William Rankin, Health & Safety Officer
Just a quick note re the 2 Day Instructor Course with Robert Smith last week. It was great. Very practical, which is exactly what I was after.
Ruth Hill, Safety Manager at ABP Food Group Perth
The 1 Day Risk Assessor Course was a success and I think we all got a lot from it. Martyn was a good tutor and pitched his delivery just right.
Heidi Moore, Occupational Health Manager at Birds Eye Limited
Feedback from the 2 Day Instructor Course was that the course was delivered very well, the trainer Jonathan Taylor had a vast knowledge and gave excellent practical experience, with opportunity to discuss questions. Both days were full and Jonathan definitely kept the days interesting.

The 2 Day Instructor Assessor Course was excellent.

2 Day Instructor Assessor Course Attendee feedback:
What did you find most helpful & why?
The practical side to the course, because you could see clearly the positive effects of correct handling.
Learning in more depth about spinal and muscular injuries and how they happen.
The practical demo was very good.
The overall feedback was very good; and really enjoyed the way the Manual Handling Practical Skills Courses were put together and how Jonathan Simmonds worked with the staff. In fact, the majority of the staff that I have spoken to said they thought the first part, the class based section was very interesting and informative.
Graham Owen, Parks & Gardens Operations Manager
Southend -on-Sea Borough Council
All feedback was great from the 2 Day Instructor Course.
Jonathan is a good trainer and all the better for being an Osteopath rather than a 'Health & Safety' trainer.
David Clack, Health, Safety & Welfare Adviser & Course Attendee
Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk
The Manual Handing Courses with Jose Fernandez went very well thank you and as you can see the feedback ranged from very good to excellent.
Sue Kimber, Personnel & Training Officer

All the feedback from the Manual Handing Practical Skills Courses we had was very positive. Myself and our caretakers found the training Rishi Patel delivered very informative and very well presented. We would definitely be happy to work with Rishi again in the future. All his help was much appreciated.
Arizona Jones, Compliance Solutions Officer

Were the joining instructions before the course sufficient & correct?
Was the Redhill Harlequin Centre conducive to learning?
What did you like most about the course?
How their trainer got everyone involved and made it interesting and relevant to the job each person carried out
What didn’t you like about the course?
Nothing, one of the best training courses I've been on in my 14 years at the Council and was probably the course I was least looking forward to going on
Laurence Mapp, Cleansing Supervisor
Luton Borough Council
Can I extend my thanks to Jonathan Taylor for the 3 Day Instructor Assessor Course that he delivered to our waste management colleagues here at Horsham District Council. The course feedback forms indicated 100% satisfaction. So hopefully we can now benefit from that improved level of competence among our staff.
Michael Marchant, Corporate Health & Safety Advisor
Horsham District Council
We commissioned Manual Handling Train the Trainer programmes for our Play Scheme Leaders and Street Scene Supervisors. This has provided an excellent foundation for them to provide on-site bespoke training to their teams and to undertake manual handling risk assessments within their work areas. Osteopathic Solutions Director Gareth Milner liaised beforehand to ensure that the programmes met our needs, and provided post-training feedback that will enable these new trainers to be supported in their role. I have since recommended this training to another local authority.
Sue Evans, Manual Handling Adviser/ Health & Safety Business Partner Newport City Council

What did you like most about the Public 2 Day Instructor Course?
It was very thorough - a lot to take in over 2 days but I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed the mix of practical, power point, written and verbal content. I think the Manchester venue, the presenter and the course content were all great!
Marcelle Blinston, Quality & Compliance Officer
Manchester Metropolitan University
Please pass on the following fantastic feedback to Jonathan. I’ve just returned some of the example loads used in today’s training to the Kitchen. They guys were so enthusiastic and interested in the topic of manual handling I could hardly get away! I also spoke to some of the office ladies who attended this afternoon’s session. They were smiling! And they couldn’t wait to tell me that it was so refreshing to hear, in a course of this title, HOW and WHY bad handling can affect our spines. Never before have I seen and heard such enthusiasm from attendees of a manual handling course. Fantastic.
Marie Ruffle, Human Resources Manager
Keble College, part of the University of Oxford
As always it is positive with Jonathan. I discussed with the Head housekeeper and the feedback which is very good. Jonathan gauges the requirements really well; his approach to the members is first class.
Bill McKim, Facilities Manager
What did you like most about the Public 2 Day Course?
The Manual Handling Instructor Course at the Harlequin Centre (Redhill) was very hands on and drew attention to the fact that we may have to review how we teach manual handling to our staff and be more proactive in the practical.
Jasmine Gayton, Health & Safety Officer
Sussex Downs College
All the staff who attended found the training very beneficial and in particularly the theory side of things and how people injure their backs.
They all thought Jonathan Simmonds was very good, "very down to earth" who got the message over well without being "preachy" or lecturing.
Based on my experience as a trained Manual Handling trainer and meeting with the two Jonathans at Osteopathic Solutions I think the use of a trained Osteopath for manual handling training is far better than if I, or someone similar were providing the training.
Andy Marr, Health & Safety Manager
I must say my team and I were extremely impressed and satisfied with the manual handling training Robert Smith delivered. It was tailored to meet our unique requirements and everyone gained something from it. I have no doubt that if our staff follow the guidance provided they will reduce the chances of injuring themselves in their day to day tasking.
Keith Hodgson, Estates Manager at The High School of Glasgow
Fire & Rescue Services
I attended the Manual Handling Instructor (Train the Trainer) Course run by Alan Reed to qualify as an in house Instructor for the Fire and Rescue Service. I found the content to be refreshingly applicable to the real world. My previous experience of manual handling training had generally been lifting an empty box with knees bent and back straight. This does not transfer into the wide variety of situations that manual handling requires. Alan’s training incorporated an assortment of work related manual handling scenarios using equipment we would use during our work activities. In short, the instruction was thorough, relevant and engaging. Highly recommended.
Adam Hall, Crew Manager
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service
Just to let you know that the feedback from the 3 Day Instructor Assessor Course has been positive with the guys complementing the content and Jonathan Simmond's delivery style in particular.

Lydd site Attendees' feedback:
'' Rishi Patel was bang-on, tip-top. Really pragmatic and understood our issues and provided useful ideas to help. If it was a TripAdvisor review I would give him 5 blobs!! ''
'' I found it very beneficial, especially the gym exercises and advice about preventative measures to help stop manual handling related injuries occurring. ''
'' Very good instruction and information. Considerate of our work environment and excellent exercises explained.
Hope we have the same Instructor next year. ''
'' I thought it was very informative and well delivered from Rishi Patel. ''
'' Rishi presented well and was knowledgeable with appropriate physical training advice given. ''
The 3 Day Manual Handling Instructor Assessor Course with Robert Smith was perfect for what I needed. We did lots of practical in the hangar showing us the correct posture and grips for bag handling which is what we do most of. We were also shown how to teach squat and lunge lifting, pushing and pulling; teaching us where the weight should come from e.g. legs and hips, not back. I feel I got a lot out of this course and feel I can show my team better handling to save their back and shoulders which is what my team seem to hurt the most.
Brenda Tait, Security Supervisor
Babcock MCS Offshore
The Manual Handling training we had for our Engineering team and Drivers at our depot was excellent. Paul Henaghan is very good at delivering the training and the real life scenarios we managed to set up including luggage handling, using real luggage with accurate weights etc. was a really useful exercise.
Ben Bartram, Private Hire & Schools Co-Ordinator
Southern Vectis (Part of Go South Coast)
Please say thank you to Jonathan Simmonds on our behalf. I had fantastic feedback from people and they think this was the best Manual Handling training they have ever received.
